ACHAB
Study opportunities that make a difference.
To assess the ability of “Percorsi” to improve the chances of the beneficiary students enrolling at university.
What does the project deal with?
The ACHAB – Affording College with the Help of Asset Building assessment project, conducted in the province of Turin between 2014 and 2017, addresses the issue of how the children of low-income families can access university education.
What are the objectives?
Winner of the European Commission’s “Progress 2013” call for proposals, this project evaluates the effectiveness of the Percorsi programme in making a difference to how likely it is for the beneficiaries to gain access to university. For evaluation purposes, an ad hoc survey was conducted to collect longitudinal information on enrolment decisions and on the continuation of studies up to the second year.
What are the results?
The experimental result highlighted the positive and significant effects of the Percorsi programme on university enrolments and particularly significant and positive effects on the continuation of studies. The programme has a greater effect on students from vocational schools than those from technical colleges or secondary schools.
